This is My Proof

Faith is a knowledge within the heart, beyond the reach of proof.
— Kahlil Gibran

I came across this photograph today through a monthly email digest I get.

This is my proof

For some reason, this makes me almost unbearably sad.  Is it just me?

  1. Dawn, your comment reminds me of a scene from, of all things, Men In Black, when Tommy Lee Jones’s character shows Will Smith’s character that he left behind the woman he loved to join MIB:

Will Smith: You know what they say, right? ‘Tis better to have loved and lost . . .’

    Tommy Lee Jones: Try it.

  2. Actually this photo gives me hope. (I looked at it when you first posted but forgot to come back and comment.) It’s hard to explain but the idea that even though the love is gone now, it was there once. And there is always the hope that it will be there again.
