    • This book is terrifying.  It’s a non-fiction account of the situation inside Memorial Hospital in New Orleans just prior to, during, and in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  The major focus is on the decision of several doctors not to attempt to evacuate the most seriously ill patients and to, instead, essentially euthanize them.  It is horrifying and heartbreaking, but makes you wonder what other choice they really had under the circumstances.
  • The Happiest Baby on the Block, by Harvey Karp, M.D.
  • Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression, by Brooke Shields
